Aftermath of the social: Year 13 edition

Hello!

As you have probably guessed, I have been to another social; it was quite fun. Though like my post in May, I will discuss the rest of my week first.

Surprise scenery! This is from Catbells over the summer
First things first: I forgot to mention a very special occasion for Christi Festen, one of my friends from Africa. She got married a couple of weeks ago; though the wedding was in America, so my family was unable to go. Her parents and my parents were on the same Bible translation team, and are close friends; given that me and my sister effectively grew up with her and her sister, I feel like it's fair to describe Christi as being like a relative. Plus, customs from one country or another (might have been CAR, might have been America) dictate that you refer to adult friends, and the parents of friends, as "aunt" and "uncle".

Term has also officially begun, at last; Friday Pathfinders started up last week (in case you're wondering, I don't count term as having fully started until Pathfinders starts up). On the same day, some family friends came round for supper; they left at around 10:30, cutting across Pathfinders. So I left older Pathfinders early, so as to spend as much time as possible with them. .

I've also gone to several open days for universities; I went to Bristol open day several weeks ago (the same day that Christi got married), and I went to the Derby open day today. Both were highly informative; Derby already feels very inclusive.

Onto the social...

Echoes of a previous social...
The theme, same as the Icebreaker last year, was 'something beginning with the first letter of your name'; I went as Darth Vader. Yes, my first name begins with R; however, I have a middle name, 'Daniel', so I simply ditched the first name to justify going as Darth Vader. I couldn't think of anything interesting enough beginning with R.
Party time!

The social was fairly fun - the senior team did a good job at handling things. The outside was out-of-bounds to people who didn't smoke...as well as anybody who simply decided the rules didn't apply to them; this was to prevent noise complaints. Though one of my friends pointed out, not unfairly, that reducing the volume of the music would be a better way to reduce noise complaints.
Cut out of my own selfie...again

Also, one last thing, my friend Sarah has started her own blog, so give it a read if you're interested.

Random stats:
Days until my dad gets back: 7
Gallons of alcohol drunk at social: still 0
Number of drunk boys hitting on me: two, maybe three
Number of Open Days attended: 2
This post happens to be posted on the one-year anniversary of the Aftermath of the Social post; it's not that anything special happened, I just thought it would be fun to post it exactly one year later.
