Hello!
It has been a long time since my last blog (nearly 2 months, to be exact!). For that reason, I decided to do another post. Also, I went to another social, as indicated by the title.
There have actually been around 4 socials since the Ice-breaker social, but I didn't go to any of them, because I didn't feel like it. Though technically, I would have gone to the February Saints and Sinners social, except the Senior Team forgot to organise it. They had to reschedule it and I was unable to attend at the rescheduled date.
This social is the last one of the year, so it is lucky I went. There is also a Leavers' Dinner on the 24th, but it's for Year 13s only, sadly.
I would like to first talk about my first two weeks back from the Easter Holidays, because two weeks offers more to talk about than one evening, no matter what happened in that evening.
We had Finn, a Barking Mad Saluki-collie cross staying with us at the end of the holidays. He stayed for 13 days, and arrived on the 29th of April. So he left the day before the Year 11s started their GCSEs. He's a very gentle and affectionate dog, and is a bit like a spaniel in his quest for attention.

So like this. Except larger. And lankier. |

Except this: these are important. |
I have also had a busy fortnight running for Head Boy. I had to write a speech and design posters, which was fun. Unfortunately, I didn't get elected as Head Boy, and I didn't get on the Senior Team; I did get lots of votes, which is nice. The new Senior Team is made up of lots of people who are good friends; I personally think this is wonderful, as it means that they will be able to work together and get along easily.
Onto the social!
The social was very entertaining. To start with, there was some confusion when my dad dropped me off, because the entrance was round the back. So, driving past the front gave the impression that there was nobody there. Then, when I got to the back of the building, there was more confusion because I wasn't on the list of people allowed in, despite paying. And the Senior Team member I gave the ticket money to wasn't there. Because he was watching Avengers: Endgame with his family for the second time in a week. Thankfully, the Head Boy was able to confirm that I had paid, and the bouncers wrote my name onto the list, to prevent further confusion. In keeping with tradition, I didn't touch any alcohol. I did drink several glasses of water from shot-glasses, just for novelty value. I also had nothing to eat, because the man who usually provides the kebabs did not turn up the entire time I was there.
There were many old faces from before Sixth-Form; it was quite interesting seeing them. There were several people who don't go to my school for Sixth-Form; the social system has s policy whereby people can bring plus-ones who no longer attend my school. There were no relationship bands at this social.
Like at the first social, there was a dance floor. And again, like the first social, the music was atrociously loud. There was also a room upstairs, where the coats and bags were stored. There was a bunch of drunk people up there, just hanging out, all evening.
The social had a slightly surreal haze to it. Outside, in the rain, it was less hazy, but inside it was slightly dreamlike. One can only imagine what it was like for the people who were drunk! Speaking of drunk, several people had the misfortune to be sick within 20 minutes of turning up.

I also took the opportunity to take a selfie with the old and new Head Boy and Head Girl. The outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl and Senior Team have done a wonderful job making my year feel welcome in Sixth Form, and the incoming Senior Team will be just as wonderful for the future Year 12s.
