Chapter 1: The First Day

Hello again!

Me, all ready for school.

I was going to write these blogs once every fortnight, but I have decided to publish one every week instead.

My first day was pretty good. I didn't have lessons as such (I receive the timetable tomorrow), but I  was still pretty busy. First, I had to fill in the options column, finalizing the options. Including, of course, religious studies, which I will be doing for the first 2 weeks of term, to see if I prefer RS to one of the other subjects. I also had to talk to my GCSE English teacher about getting English Language re-marked. I didn't fail, it's merely that I was one mark off a higher level.

A folder and other assorted bits and bobs, shamelessly stolen from the internet.

In my form, there are many people that I know. I'm in 12/13-A (year 12s and year 13s are in combined forms). For instance, there are four people, not including me, from my old form, which was 11-T.  One of those people is my friend, AM. The form tutor for 12/13-A is Mr P. He is quite nice, and he does PE.

Additionally, I had to adjust to a new daily schedule. This is being implemented for the whole school, so if you go to my school then pay attention! If not, then just skip this paragraph.
So, registration starts at the same time, but ends 5 minutes early, to give people time to get to their first lesson. This 5-minute gap between lessons is for the whole day. Period 1 is the normal time, 8:55 to 9:55, but the second period is from 10:00 to 11:00. Break lasts 20 minutes, and period 3 is from 11:25 to 12:20. Period 4 is from 12:25 to 1:25. Lunch has 5 minutes shaved off, allowing school to finish at the same time.

Overall, my first day was quite busy at first, but it got a bit boring later. I didn't really hang out with friends, and the school was so empty that it felt weird. I ended up going home at around 2 (which is apparently perfectly allowable on your first day of year 12) because all the other sixth-formers had already gone home for the day.

Have a good first week of term, and don't overexert yourselves, whether student or adult!
